Dates To Remember:
Summary of Academics:
Reading: As we wrap up Unit 6 in McGraw Hill we will revisit genres such as biographies, expository, and poetry. Reading binders will go home at the end of the year with your child. It's important to revisit the genres we discussed as well as the various skills we took notes on throughout the year. :)
Writing: We will write our second opinion piece on whether or not we should allow dogs to be leashed or unleashed at our local dog park. Students will strive to meet their individual end of the year goal. Happy Writing!
Math: We recently wrapped out clocks/time. Students will end the year with mass/volume. We will also cover measurement (nearest quarter inch)/broken rulers and graphing/data (bar graphs, pictographs, line plots). These are topics that were covered in 2nd grade but will be taken a step further.
Science: we will continue our plant/animal adaptation unit. We will also discuss human/animal inheritance and traits/characteristics. We will end the year with weather/climate. Our goal is to look into submitting a Mystery Doug video!
Social Studies: We will continue to learn about government at the national, state, and local levels. We will discuss different responsibilities to help us prepare for our downtown Utica walk!
